From Epsom: Follow A24, eventually bypassing Leatherhead and descending to the Givons Grove roundabout (Texaco garage on right here). Turn left, still on A24. After 0.8 miles pass Frascati restaurant on left. Very soon turn left into B2209 (Old London Road) to Mickleham. The Running Horses is about 250 yards up on right.

From Dorking: Take A24 north towards London. Eventually pass Burford Bridge roundabout, staying on A24. At 50mph signs about 1 mile ahead get into right-hand lane. Very soon, just past speed camera at bend, turn right across dual carriageway into B2209 (Old London Road) to Mickleham. The Running Horses is about 250 yards up on right.

Public Transport

The nearest railway station is Boxhill & Westhumble. From there it's a 1.3mile walk to The Running Horses. The 465 bus (which runs between Kingston and Dorking) stops at Mickleham Church, dead opposite The Running Horses.

The walk is mainly flattish, with some scenic views to nearby hillsides.

This 16th century inn serves a selection of real ales and a variety of bar snacks/meals
(e.g. £11.95 for roast beef). It also has a separate restaurant which you need to book at least a few days in advance if you want to eat there - two courses for £18.95, three for £23.95 - Tel 01372 372279.

There is outside seating in the front but no garden or car park. Park in Old London Road itself or, if there's still space when you arrive, in Swanworth Lane which runs down the side of the inn.
