From London & Sutton: Take A217 south. Beware speed cameras! After Burgh Heath at large roundabout with traffic lights at Kingswood take 4th exit (Tadworth Street). At traffic lights, continue ahead towards Walton-on-the-Hill. Past village pond on right and ahead through village centre. The Chequers is a large pub on left (about 1½ miles from Kingswood roundabout).

From M25: At Junction 8 (Reigate) turn north on A217 (Brighton Road). Beware speed cameras! Continue approx. 2½ miles to large roundabout with traffic lights at Kingswood and take 2nd exit (Tadworth Street). Directions as from London above.

From Dorking: Take A25 east. At Betchworth roundabout turn left past Betchworth Station (Station Road/Pebblehill Road) and over level crossing. Continue up hill until cross over M25 then next left (Chequers Lane). Continue approx. 1 mile and The Chequers is on the right.

STAGE I 
Turn right from the pub. Turn left into Queen's Close. After 100m turn left through the gate, over the stile and turn right. Follow this path all the way down the hill. At the hedge line, climb over the stile and turn left. Turn right to reach the subway.

STAGE II 
Begins at the motorway subway. Follow the path all the way up the hill. At the track by the shed, turn left towards the farm. Stop at the 3 step stile.

STAGE III 
Go over the 3 step stile and carry on until a 3 way public footpath sign is reached. Take the path leading to Headley church. Carry on over 4 more stiles, past the Old Rectory, until the next track is reached.

11. Thoroughly satisfies thirsty horses after holy disappearance.
12. Where the royalties for "The Course Of My Life" have gone.
13. Buddy and George in a formal get together.

STAGE IV
Turn left along the track to the main road. Turn right at the road. Turn right after the Cock Horse P.H. Follow the public footpath to St Mary's Church. Go through the double gates of the graveyard to the right of the church. (note: there are no inscription clues) Turn right and left to reach the swing gate on the far side.

STAGE V 
From the church take the path towards the woods. Climb over the stile at the track and turn left. Follow this track to the subway. (Ignore all graffiti in the subway!)

STAGE VI 
Follow the track from the subway. Turn left at the fork with the small concrete bollard and carry on up the hill towards the main road until another bollard is reached just before the road.

STAGE VII 
Turn right at the road. Soon come to a junction where you turn left. Soon turn right along a footpath. Soon turn right along another path. This emerges at the junction of a road and a wide track. Turn right along the track and then turn left at the main road. Follow this back to Walton. Turn right at the crossroads into Chequers Lane. The stage ends at Queens Close. Carry on back to the Chequers.
