Directions
From Dorking: Head east on the A25 for approx 2 ½ miles. At Betchworth roundabout turn right into Station Road. At t-junction left into Old Reigate Road. Pub is on left after approx 500 yards.
From Reigate: Head west on A25 for approx 2 miles. In Buckland village, immediately after church on left, turn left into Old Road. Follow road for approx ½ mile and pub is on the right.

Location
The Red Lion pub dates in part from the 16th century, and is a family friendly venue with a restaurant and beer garden, specialising in good homemade food. Meals are available from 12:00 to 09:00, but booking for Sunday lunchtime is highly advisable. Tel 01737 843336. The beers are Fullers London Pride, Greene King IPA and Adnams Broadside. The pub has a small car park, but parking is possible in the surrounding Streets.

Public Transport
Pub is approx 1 mile from Betchworth station, served by a 2 hourly service from Dorking or Reigate/Redhill on Sunday. Turn right from station. Follow station road straight across Betchworth roundabout, eventually reaching t-junction with Old Reigate Road, where turn left. Pub is on left after approx 500 yards. Train services to Dorking ( 3 miles) or Redhill (5 miles) are more frequent, and taxis should be available at both.

Walk Information
A 3 ½ mile walk through fields, woodland and Surrey villages. There are several stiles and a few inclines. Not recommended for pushchairs.

Stage I
Cross over the road to the pavement and turn right. Just before the T junction with 'The Street' cross back over to the right hand side. Stage ends at the T junction with 'Station Road'

Stage II
Cross back over to the pavement where the bench is. Continue along the pavement to the bus shelter opposite the post office. Cross over and follow the footpath by the post office. Follow the path that turns right after the allotments. Follow this path, crossing one stile to reach another stile at the A25 where the stage ends. Cross over to stage 3.

Stage III
From the stile follow the path to the direction post 100m away. Turn left to the railway bridge by the mast. Cross this and follow the path up to and over the stile. At the finger posts 10m further on, turn right and stay on this path to a set of descending steps with handrails where the stage ends.

Stage IV
From the 3 hand rails follow the path to a set of ascending steps with handrails. Climb these and immediately turn right along the 'North Downs Way'. At the quarry you can briefly come off the main path to take in the view. Back on the path continue through a kissing gate to the houses in 'Coombe Lane' where the stage ends.

Stage V
There are no clues until you approach Betchworth Station 600 m away.
Follow the lane to the main road. Turn right and carry on down the hill. The clues start at the side turning before the station.

Cross the railway at Betchworth Station and cross over to the footpath by the railway. Follow this footpath to the green kissing gate. Follow the rough path across the field to the old gates where the stage ends.

Stage VI
From the gates bear left. Aim left of the trough you can see in the distance. A kissing gate will become visible on the left by a group of houses. Go through the gate. After 50 m turn right along a tarmac track. Follow this track to 'The Green' at Buckland. Take the right fork to the main road where the stage ends. Cross over to the next road.
