Location
From Dorking head south on A24. At Beare Green roundabout take A29 to Ockley. At Ockley village turn right on B2126. Shortly after joining B2127 veer off left at Forest Green, immediately passing the Parrott Inn on left. Continue for just over two miles to The Scarlett Arms on left.

Walk Information
The walk is mainly on footpaths over flat terrain. Quite a few stiles.
Classic country inn built in 1620. Open all day Sunday. Garden to front. Sussex and Badger beer on draught. Parking opposite pub. To book lunch ring 01306 627243.

Stage I
Leaving pub turn left along verge to nearby "Public Footpath" sign. Left along path. At 4 way pointer post left again, eventually following path down and crossing wooden bridge. Continue on path to track/driveway at right angles. Straight over along "Public Footpath" in front. Proceed to next track/driveway with "Woodview" on gate.

Stage II
(No answers in red section)
Straight over along path in front. When fence ends keep ahead into woods and ignore side tracks. Soon go over minor X tracks. About 10 yards further on veer left as path joins from right. After another 10 yards, at junction of paths, bear slightly right along path between two tall trees. Immediately pass "Public Footpath" disc on post. Follow path to road. Right along road. Stay on right-hand side until reaching "Okewood Cottage". Here leave main road, veering off left along tarmac driveway. Continue past houses. End stage at "Public Footpath" pointer on right with "Benbow Stables" name-plate.

Stage III
Ignoring "Public Footpath" keep ahead to nearby "Unsuitable For Motors" notice. Ahead on path in front. Stay on it when it becomes a wide track. Eventually, at multiple pointer post at X tracks, walk ahead, go through small wooden gate and follow path across field. End stage at stile on far side.

Stage IV
Over stile, into next field. Ahead with hedgerow on left. At corner over next stile. Soon climb another and proceed to road in front. Cross over and turn left to nearby stile on right. Over stile and follow path slightly right across field. At far side follow path down, soon crossing plank bridge. Now up steps and keep ahead in next field with ferns on left. At corner of field over two stiles and cross next field to stile beside gate. Ahead to another gate and stile Over this and follow grassy path ahead. On approaching low buildings veer off slightly right to stile beside hedgerow. Climb over and walk beside stable block. End stage at stile at far end of stable block.

Stage V
Ahead towards wooden garage. Here turn left through two section wooden gate along "Public Bridleway". Keep to this wide track, eventually passing through second gate. Now keep on driveway for some way, passing several biggish houses. Eventually, after passing the lily pond on right, keep on to "Bennetts Grove" on wall on right.

Stage VI
Ahead on driveway. On reaching T turn left down roadway. Soon, at "Woodlands" on right, climb nearby stile and immediately turn left along path between hedges. Over two more stiles close together. Continue with hedgerow on left to two metal gates.

Stage VII
Through gate in front along "Footpath". Soon follow track downhill, continuing to stile in front. Over this, then skirt field anticlockwise, making for top right-hand corner. Over stile here, walk into next field and keep ahead with hedgerow on right. At corner go straight on down into woods to nearby stile. Over stile. Now follow narrow, winding path through woods. Eventually, on emerging from woods, pass wooden building on right and end stage at gate and stile a few yards in front.

Stage VIII
Over stile. Now keep ahead without deviating, passing "Orchard Farm" and later on a tall flagpole. Soon continue ahead along narrow path with boarded fence on right. When fence ends keep ahead for a few yards, then follow roadway round to left. End stage on reaching nearby main road.
