Location
Shere is located just off the A25, approximately half way between Guildford and Dorking, it is well sign posted. The pub is situated in the centre of the village, it does not have a car park. There are two public car parks within several hundred yards of the pub, illustrated on the map below. Please use one of these as the village gets very congested.


Public Transport
Gomshall is the nearest railway station, approximately one and a half miles from Shere. Leave the station and turn right walk along the A25 towards Guildford until you see the left turn for Shere. Continue along this road until reaching Shere centre. Turn left onto Middle Street the pub is on the right. Please click on the link for train timetable and availability. www.nationalrail.co.uk

Walk Information
Shere is one of Surrey's quaintest villages, its steeped in history with its 12th century church, many interesting old buildings, a museum and two cracking pubs. If you have not already done so its well worth a visit.
The pub is open all day on Sundays, it has a garden to the rear. There is a huge and varied menu, catering for all tastes and a great choice of beers.
You cannot reserve tables on Sundays, the pub is open from noon, if you want lunch get there early.
The walk takes in some of Surrey's finest countryside with stunning views as you meander through the beautiful meadows, this is a walk not to be missed.

Stage I
Leave the pub and turn left into Lower Street continue with the River on your right. Cross the ford, continue along the lane until reaching cottages, where stage ends.

Stage II
Veer left onto a narrow path with a brick wall on your left. Maintain direction crossing a lane eventually arriving at a gate. Carry on across the meadow leaving by a gate on the other side, onto a path through woods. Go over a stile and across another meadow, leave by a stile to the right of the church where stage ends

8, This fruit bearing land, may look a little bland.

Stage III
Continue to the road, turn left and continue along the path, turn left into New Road. Turn immediately left onto the driveway of Albury Park Mansion, remain on the driveway and just before reaching the house, turn right up a grass verge, stage ends upon reaching a gate.

Stage IV
Continue uphill veering left, maintain direction straight through woodland ignoring all crossing tracks. Eventually arriving at a metal gate by a house. Go through the gate to the road, turn left onto a path running parallel with the road. Continue until reaching a way marked sign where you turn sharp right arriving back at the road where stage ends.

Stage V
Veer left, cross the road onto a wide path maintain direction, cross the railway line and turn left onto a lane. Stage ends at a T junction.

Stage VI
Turn left, then right, take a narrow path in between fences. Continue on this path with fields on either side, go over a stile and veer left passing several houses to meet a road. Turn right, then left onto a public footpath, where stage ends.

Stage VII
Continue along this path as it bends around a field, cross the railway, continue through a field, cross a track and arrive at a gate in front of the church where the walk ends. Walk along the lane arriving back at the pub.
