Route & Question Sheet

STARTERS
Answers can be seen at the front of the pub.
 1. Instant dismissal this provides
For either of two cricketing sides…
 2. …With no ringleader, it would seem
There's one for each man in the team
 3. The tenants smoked? What's this?
The result of metamorphosis

STAGE I
Turn right out of pub, past the car park, then after a short distance turn right on track signposted as public footpath. Stage ends at entrance to field on left.
 4. Sounds like a little more you need
And this will lead you to succeed
 5. Sort of shackles and fetters
That produce a stream of letters…
 6. …Seen the letters?

STAGE II
Turn left, do not actually enter field but keep to path at left of post. Follow path uphill, which soon affords fine views of local countryside. Continue into woodland. At clearing, keep ahead following yellow footpath arrows. After a further 20 yards bear right at white post and over stile into field. Ahead along LH side of field then straight ahead across field after end of trees on left. Stage ends at gate/stile at far side of crossing track.
7. Blouse all ripped, bloody elbows
Don't wander into restricted 'edgerows!
 8. Enabled the teams to achieve conversion…
 9. …this'll suggest the singular version

STAGE III
Over (or round) stile and straight ahead, eventually reaching lane, where bear left and ahead to village (Rotten Row) passing pond on your right. Stage ends when the lane turns left (by post box)..
 10. This you'll see through (it's a gift)
And from it horse's head will lift
 11. By the sound of it you could
Expect knots in this wood
 12. This tastes chewy: what's to blame?
You're supposed to cook it over the flame
 13. We seem to be set fair
But the Poles are worse for wear

STAGE IV
Follow the lane when it turns left and continue for some way (ignoring turn-off on your right). Stage ends at entrance to Hutton's Farm on your left.
 14. Am I used in experimentation
To show the current situation?
 15. Do they give politicians an autumnal boost?…
 16. …and is this where their chickens will come home to roost?

STAGE V
Turn left down drive to Hutton's Farm (this IS a public footpath), following the drive round to right at the far end. When the drive bears right to farm buildings, keep ahead on grassy path. Through gateway, turn left, then after 20 yards go right and follow path across to the woods, where stage ends.
 17. Anglo-French CD
Nigel improvised free
 18. A colourful lord
Who ain't from abroad
 19. His time of arrival was 1608
A cube, a square and a heavyweight

STAGE VI
Go into woods, then immediately left following path, which gradually drifts downhill. Keep to left again at fork after three yellow arrows. Keep ahead for some way then left up towards gap in trees (just beyond old rotting tree stump on left). Continue through broken stile and across field, over ridge. Over stile at far side of field (careful on slope at far side of stile), then right at track. Follow this track to T-junction with road. Straight ahead across road, through kissing gate, then bear slightly left across field to another kissing gate at far side, where stage ends..
 20. No arrows on the floor
But an unspectacular score
 21. Probably best near Cirencester
Before it's had a chance to fester
 22. G G X A T E

STAGE VII
Turn left and follow lane to entrance to churchyard. Take the RH of the two paths through churchyard (NB no answers on gravestones), bearing right as you pass front door of church. After emerging through gate, turn left. Cross the road after passing war memorial and continue back to the pub.
 23. A request to make things bright?
The reference you must cite
 24. If closed on Sunday, don't despair
It may be available just over there
 25. Here's a tongue-twister to close
About as far as a quiz walk goes?

Young Walkers Questions

All stages and directions the same as the main walk above

There is one clue to solve in each stage. For each clue, there is a box for each letter of the answer. You can write in the grey squares. The black squares are spaces between words.

For an extra point, when you have finished, the letters in the grey boxes can be re-arranged to spell out something that you have done today.
