Directions

Location: Shalford is about 1½ miles south of Guildford on the A281 (sp to Horsham). The Seahorse Inn is on the right before you reach the station.

Public Transport: Two buses per hour from Guildford bus station or 10 minutes walk from Shalford station

Car Parking: The Seahorse has limited parking and is normally fairly busy all day. Nearby side roads should be used.

Route & Question Sheet

STARTERS
The answers to all clues are visible from the forecourt area by the main entrance

STAGE I
Turn left out of the Seahorse and left again at the Public Bridleway. Shortly take left fork to Godalming. Turn right at the kissing gate and shortly reach a 5 bar gate.
 4. E's missing and so's an 'orse
 5. Eddie Cochran might give them a miss,
They're twice his usual climb to bliss
 6. Reportedly walking with lips puckered!

STAGE II
Cross the water meadow using the walkway, and turn left at the river. Cross at the weir bridge and follow the canal to the lock. Cross over the lock bridge to the public notice boards.
 7. Its weird when hundreds just disappear

STAGE III
Turn right and follow the canal all the way to the footbridge. Go under the footbridge and then use it to cross over the river. Turn left, and soon turn right to the kissing gate before the park.

STAGE IV
Fork left into the park and follow the edge by the trees to the buildings. Go right by the buildings into the car park. Turn right and follow the cycle path, the path ends at to the main road.

STAGE V
Cross the road. The stage starts at the other side. Go left along Pilgrims Way on the left, and eventually reach Echo Pit Road. Cross over and follow the drive up to Chantry House.

STAGE VI
Turn right at Chantry House along the sunken track by houses and follow this to a road. Turn left along the road and very soon pick up footpath running beside the road. This eventually rejoins the road which soon ends at a T junction.

STAGE VII
Climb over the style at the T-junction and head across the field to the next stile. From here the path runs past Shalford Mill back to The Seahorse. The stage ends at the main road.

c. A Top hat appears on a sign over a bicycle. This is one of the Monopoly pieces.
d. The railway bridge has 10 small triangles. You can also include 5 double triangles.
e. Captain Hook was Peter's enemy. There is a big metal hook at the weir.
f. The towrope goes around the roller so the boat can be towed around the bend.
g. There is an orange lifebelt station near the bridge, but the belt is missing.
h. There are 10 goal mouths in the main park. Did you spot 2 more over on the left?
i The CAT is on the CATV lid. The COW is on a water lid with O, W and C on it. The OWLS are in the SLOW sign painted on the road.
