Leaving pub cross road diagonally right
and take path between fences. At stony track turn left and continue
past cricket pitch, keeping houses on left. At end of pitch veer
off right onto grass, following line of seats and benches on
left. Soon, when pitch curves to right, keep straight ahead on
path into scattered trees. End stage at slightly staggered X
tracks ahead.

STAGE II
Right for about 10 yards then take middle
track at three-way split in track. Now stay on sandy track without
deviating over 4 successive X tracks. Eventually meet 5th X tracks.
Here cross straight over wide stony track and continue ahead
on narrow path. Eventually descend through narrow gully to road.

STAGE III
(No answers along red section)
Cross over, turn left and stay on right-hand side until reaching
"Public Footpath" on left at "Darbyn's Brook"
sign. Re-cross road and take
this footpath (it's a driveway). Stay on driveway when it curves
round lake on left. Soon, after passing house and garage, continue
up narrow path until eventually reaching lane at right angles.

STAGE V
Ignoring "Public Bridleway",
turn left along sandy roadway. Eventually, at "Hurtwood
Control" sign, fork right. After a few yards take left fork
in sandy path. Soon cross over narrow X-tracks and quickly reach
major X tracks at clearing. Left on wide dusty track. Eventually
bear right at fork and end stage immediately on reaching a second
major X-tracks.

STAGE VI
Left, then immediately veer off right
along diagonal path, keeping "Blackheath-Waverley"
sign on left. Very soon, when slanting path merges from right,
keep right at fork just in front. Continue to wide track at right
angles. Careful. Straight over (keeping small, triangular clump
of vegetation on right) and proceed to staggered barriers a few
yards ahead. Ignoring barriers, turn right beneath tall fir tree
then immediately left along path, keeping fence on right. At
narrow roadway ahead veer left along it. Continue to red post-box
on left just before T.
