Location:
On the south side of Wimbledon Common, the Hand-in-Hand is set back from Woodhayes Road. (The Crooked Billet is only a few yards away if you see that first)

Car Parking:
The Common is a popular location and street parking may be a little hard to find - please allow extra time!

Public Transport:
Tram, rail or underground to Wimbledon Station, then either walk (approx 1 mile) or bus up the hill to Wimbledon village and turn left along Southside Common.
Bus services from Merton/Wimbledon and Putney run alongside the Common.

Route & Question Sheet

STARTERS 
Between the Crooked Billet and Hand in Hand signs

STAGE I 
Turn left out of pub (towards common) and left again at West Side Common. Along pavement, cross side road then after hotel turn left through large iron gates into Cannizaro Park. Follow path ahead and round behind house. At terrace take path directly away from house. Soon down steps then past pond (on left) and ahead (keeping shed/fence on left). Ahead as far as possible (left path at fork) then right at T-junction to gate at rear entrance to park, where stage ends.

STAGE II 
Through gate and ahead along track (pass allotments). At T-junction turn left along road. Continue past golf club, offices & houses on left until, eventually, gates across road. Through red & white gate on right and continue as tarmac road becomes track. Soon turn sharp right and take sandy path across golf course to road where stage ends.

STAGE III 
Cross road and ahead along wide path, soon through white metal gate and continue ahead. Ignore minor paths left and right until major cross paths. Turn left and soon (50 yards) bear right following path. Immediately ahead along wide path, keeping left of blue sign. Continue ahead along path, crossing part of golf course, past wooded areas and over more of the golf course. Stage ends after some distance at seat on left (dedicated to Bert Carr) where path bends right.

STAGE IV
Follow path to right and continue ahead. At T-junction turn right then soon take left fork into woods and downhill. At lake (on left) turn right along gravel path uphill. At clubhouse (at top of hill) turn left. Stage ends at car park.
Note: Clue 14 was missing on the day of the walk

STAGE V
Turn right and soon pass café. Then right again past windmill. Ignoring main tarmac road to left, ahead and through green metal gate across path. Ahead along straight wide path. Ignore minor side paths, stage ends at major track crossing.

STAGE VI
Turn left along wide sandy track. At blue posts with track crossing turn right along path that might be a bit muddy. At road ahead along pavement on rhs. Stage ends at Camp Road.

STAGE VII
Continue ahead. Walk ends where pavement swings right to the Hand-in-Hand.
