Stage 1

From the Pub LHS to the Post Office LHS.

Stage 2

Leaving "The Running Horses" turn right. Stay on right-hand pavement throughout. Eventually end stage at "Public Footpath" sign on right just before bus stop.

Stage 3

Right along "Public Footpath". Soon go downhill and descend steps. Now go through kiss-gate and keep straight ahead through field on wide, grassy path. Through another kiss-gate into next field and continue ahead to stile in top left-hand corner. Over stile, cross narrow roadway diagonally left and continue on "Public Footpath". End stage on reaching "Public Footpath" sign at dual carriageway.

Stage 4

No answers on this initial section: Turn right along cycleway here. Continue until parallel with start of break in trees in central reservation. Here cross dual carriageway. TAKE PARTICULAR CARE WHEN CROSSING FAR CARRIAGEWAY AS TRAFFIC APPROACHES VERY FAST FROM LEFT. After crossing turn left along cycleway, soon reaching "Public Footpath" pointer on right.
Clues start here: Right. Soon go under railway bridge and then turn right, passing through wooden kiss-gate. At next "Public Footpath" sign continue along grassy track with electric fence on left. Approaching house go through wooden kiss-gate, turn right and continue along narrow roadway. Quite soon at farm buildings turn left along "Permissive Footpath Leatherhead". End stage at point where concrete footway makes right-angled turn to the right.

Stage 5

Stay on concrete footway and cross bridge over river. Now follow winding track. Soon skirt clockwise round house in front, staying on main track and passing beside elongated, dilapidated outbuilding on right. Ahead on grassy track. At three pointer post keep ahead through picnic area towards "Leatherhead". After leaving picnic area continue to T a few yards in front.

Stage 6

Turn right up "Bridleway Leatherhead". Soon ignore downhill track off to right. Continue until eventually reaching four way pointer post at top of ascent. Here turn right down "Public Bridleway to Mickleham". End stage immediately on reaching roadway just beyond "Norbury Park" notice.

Stage 7

Continue down roadway, following it round left and right bends. Soon, when roadway divides either side of grassy triangle, bear round to right, initially with flintstone wall on left. Continue on roadway, eventually crossing bridge over river. End stage just beyond at "Public Bridleway" post.

Stage 8

No answers on start of section: Cross carefully over dual carriageway via narrow footway in central reservation. Now turn left and cross side road to "Old London Road" sign opposite. Ignore this road. Instead continue ahead on narrow pavement until red brick wall on right swings right.
Clues start here: Turn right along accessway here. After a short way leave accessway and continue ahead on narrow path in front to telegraph pole marked "4". Take narrow path to left. Eventually, just after passing "Lammas Cottage" on left, veer off right uphill on grassy track between fence and hedgerow. Climb to top to wide track at right angles. Right. Stay on track until reaching white gate and wooden gate at start of roadway.

Stage 9

No answers on gravestones
Through wooden gate and continue down roadway. When houses on right end keep ahead to telegraph pole on right marked "1". Just beyond this turn left between ivy-covered posts on narrow path. When gravestones appear keep ahead on narrow path between hedges. Very soon at intersection of paths in churchyard take grassy path ahead to wooden gates in boundary wall. Through gates, turn right along wide track, and end stage immediately on reaching road. (Now cross over and turn right back to pub.)
